No one ever thought that the ARPA decision to extend the ARPANET Project in 1960 will have a great impact in today’s world. We now can see the outcome of ARPANET project as the internet.

At that time internet usage is strictly limited to American government. Public could not access the internet.

With the permission of American Government in early 90s, public have access to use internet. We still remember the dot com booming when there are lots of companies built website to support their business. But in a minute, it leads to dot com crash, due to the overload.

But the other impact of public internet access is the birth of concept e-business and e-commerce concept.

These are two important concepts that a business need to master in this digital era where internet play an important role in the business world.

E-Business is the information exchange using electronic media between organization and the stakeholder to support the business process. In the other hand, e commerce is the informational and financial transaction between organization and other stakeholder.

These definition shows that the concept of e-business is wider than e-commerce.

In the concept of e-commerce contains sell-side e-commerce and buy-side e-commerce.  Sell-side e- commerce is every transaction related with selling product to consumer while the buy-side e-commerce is the business to business transaction.

Business organization should have a solid knowledge about their consumer need. So the organizations need a marketing effort which we often heard as internet marketing or online marketing.

Internet marketing is the use of internet media to achieve certain marketing target. It involves the use of website, online promotion on the search engine, banner advertising, email, and other activity to gain more consumers and manage good relationship with them.

There are various digital tools which can be used by the business organization to achieve their internet marketing target.

Such as: email, display ads, paid keyword search, branded sponsorship, referrals, video ads, podcasts, emerging vehicles.
