There are two approaches in business when ideas of producing a new product pop up as an issue.

The first one is making the product first then sell to the market. By employing this strategy, we can not access to the market in details. We only presume that the market will buy our product. The problem is presumed is not based on the real statistics. It is just looking the trends in the market field in certain marketing area.

For example, we see that there are a lot of people buying stuff online in certain site. We presume that online market is growing but we don’t have the actual data. So we create a product, sell it online and we hope that the online market will buy it.

By the end of the month we disappointed because we realize that there are only few people visiting our site and none is buying.

So where is the mistake? As the business owner we can’t just look at the market trend. We have to do a research on everything.

For instance if we are on T-Shirt design business and we want to produce some design. All we need to do are: we have to research the market such as, is there any demand for T-shirt in the online world? Search every forum discussing this topic, every site that sells clothes or T-shirt.

Look at the testimonials, do the customer really think that they like buying T-shirt online. If necessary, send emails to your friends and ask their opinion about your business idea. Don’t forget to find the data about competitors that sell on the same playground.

After having those researches, now you have the data about the market. You can describe the market landscape, the potential buyer, the price range that they can afford, who your competitors really are.

By having those data you can decide whether entering the market or not? If you decide to enter the market, the data will help you to design every strategy that will advance you business to the next level.

In short, research first before selling.
