We often hear “spam” without knowing the exact meaning of this word. Spam is related to email. It is type of emails that have certain criteria. Emails are considered as spam if:

You do not know the sender of the email. When you do not know exactly the sender, it means that you do not expect to receive the email. It usually some promotion email about some products.

When you got this type of email, you will get annoyed especially when you got lots of email everyday. Those type of email also known as junk email.

It is called junk because we, as the receiver never read the email but directly delete or throw the email to the junk folder.

You do not even ask for it. We usually register our email and name to the forum or any website we find on the net. Sometimes those sites make you allow them to send some email to you.

It can be monthly notice email, newsletters, ezine, or promotional emails. The bad things come when you registered your email to some website which regularly sends email to your inbox by a robot.

The robot often called by auto responder.

Auto responder is a machine which can be scheduled to automatically send emails. Picture this; you crash on a great site which tells you about how to make money online.

They promise you to get some free lessons for a week. They just want you to leave you name and email so they can send the material for a week. You are agreeing to leave our email and your name.

In a minute after that, you check your email and found some email from them. The same thing happen tomorrow and the other day in week. If you experience this, would you consider that those emails are spam?

The answer is no, because you ask them to send emails for a week by leaving your name and email.
